Note: it can also be related with the way Git has been installed (on Windows, UAC can generate problem if msysgit is installed in C:\Program or C:\Program Files, see "msysgit - It appears that /usr/local needs to be group writeable for the installer/brew update to work correctly in all cases, unless someone with a more thorough understanding of Unix permissions can point this content
